Bedding - Bedspreads

Our bed covers are hand printed and made from 100% cotton

Sizes:
  • King size (270 x 270 cms)
  • Queen size (240 x 270 cms)
  • Square (175 cms x 175 cms)

Each bed cover is individually hand made from the block printing to the stitching and hand quilting and therefore unique. It takes 2 people (after the printing) 21 days to make one quilt.
They are reversible, 100% cotton with thin wadding in between for warmth and can be used as throws over sofas or look beautifully elegant on a bed as in the 7 star hotels in India.
The fabrics are created using hand carved wooden blocks in the traditional block printing method. It is a process requiring a great deal of skill with separate blocks being used for each different colour, the correct positioning of the block being judged by eye. It is a very simple method whereby the blocks are carved and soaked in oil for a few days to make the teak more porous. The colours used are all from vegetable dyes. The fabric is then dried in the strong Indian sun to fix the colour; therefore no manufacturing can take place during the monsoons!
Washing instructions: Our block printed fabrics will wash beautifully by hand or machine wash on a 30 degree (cold) ‘Delicate’ program with a short spin cycle, and then hanging to dry. It is essential the block printed fabrics are not dry cleaned unless your dry cleaner is a specialist using K.W.L. agent. (The chemicals used in standard dry cleaning techniques are too harsh for these textiles, and will strip or alter colours).
